TIRAK by the BUFFALO BROTHERS
Tirak is the first theatrical production presented, as work in progress by BIAG in 2022. The production aims to be set as major event next year. Tirak aims to look, in a comic way, at the relationship that a certain type of Thai women and a certain type of foreign men often have. On stage, The Buffalo Brothers, a trio of actors dedicated to the promotion of Italian style Commedia dell’Arte in Thailand. The Buffalo Brothers play alternatively male and female characters, in a grotesque attempt to look at the Thai- Farang relationship from a male foreigner prospective only, living the female point of view in grotesque attempt to imitate their lovers’ attitudes. The actors depict at the same time the victims and the executioners in the story, the traits of a certain femininity are only partially disclosed at first to then gradually develop and take over the masculine bodies, becoming a ludicrous projection of aspirations.
Tirak follows the very successful productions, also based on Commedia dell’Arte*, of Divine Dante (Ekkolo Theatre, 2021) and Pinocchio in Siam (Ganesha Theatre, 2019).
The performance is directed by Maurizio Mistretta. On stage The Buffalo Brothers: Maurizio Mistretta, Willy Zogo, Michelangelo Cicero and Matas Danielius.

Synopsis – Six Characters in Search of Pier Paolo
The drama begins on a theatre stage under construction. The theatre’s director is watching Pasolini’s film “What are the Clouds?” to be inspired by the movie for the creation of his new show. The film is strongly engaging, but, suddenly, the arrival of a series of people abruptly interrupts it. Those people look unreal and weird and they present themselves as characters in search of an author. The enraged Director tries to send them away, but the characters are adamant: they must bring their story to life, a very dark story: a story of Dark Jealousy.
Six Characters in Search of Pier Paolo is an original theatrical production inspired by the two most beautiful masterpieces created by Pier Paolo Pasolini and Luigi Pirandello. The first masterpiece is the famous short movie “What are the Clouds?” by Pasolini. The second masterpiece is “6 Characters in Search of an Author” by Pirandello. The latter is famous for being the forefather of the so-called theatre in theatre concept, introducing a new type of scenic action that will mark a turning point in the entire Italian theatre scene to date – the birth of confidential theatre.
In his splendid and poetic short movie “What are the clouds?” Pasolini moves following patterns and languages loved by Pirandello, albeit adapted to the language of cinema. Pasolini, like Pirandello, shows us the double level of staging: on one hand, the tragedy represented by the puppet characters, and on the other hand, the perspective according to which the “spectator” would be only a falsely privileged observer. In fact, the audience is deprived of the possibility to both watch and perceive the dialogues and the pure actions of the characters.
DIVINE DANTE, tribute to Dante Alighieri
Promoted by the Embassy of Italy in Bangkok and directed by Maurizio Mistretta was performed on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th December at Ekkolo Thatre in Bangkok (1034/30 Soi Saphan Koo, Rama IV Road, MRT Lumpini)
DIVINE DANTE is a theatrical/multimedia performance, a tribute to The Divine Comedy (La Divina Commedia) and its author in the 700th anniversary of his death. Divine Dante is also the meeting point between the two prevailing forms of theater at that time: the religious and didactic theater and the nascent Commedia dell’Arte
The stage is simple with a few wooden logs scattered around, symbolizing a forest and its trees converted in paper sheets in order to pass on knowledge and culture.
With storytelling in English, Divina Commedia’s readings are in Florentine Italian with screen subtitles, the live music is contemporary (Italian and international) and the video is a combination of contemporary and vintage visual art.

Background
This eccentric poem celebrates the indestructability power of poetry that can against censorship, political oppression of the written word. It is even a long and articulate love story with some marginalized women, described as angelic creatures in a world that has nothing human anymore.
Synopsys
TOO LOUD A SOLITUDE is a tender and funny story of Haňťa – a man who has lived in a Czech police state – for 35 years, working as compactor of wastepaper and books. In the process of compacting, he has acquired an education so unwitting he can’t quite tell which of his thoughts are his own and which come from his books. He has rescued many from jaws of hydraulic press and now his house is filled to the rooftops.

Our theatrical work begins from this extreme attempt to establish a connection between the message of a dead person and audience. In the original Kafka novel, this message has no the slightest possibility of reaching its destination. Even in his theatrical version it has very little chance to fulfill its target, but in theater plays, we know, the impossible often happens.

Preface and Synopsis
There’s no doubt that much of Shakespeare’s work revolves around Italy. Italy offers a great source of inspiration and ideal settings for his masterpieces. Othello is one of them. Shakespeare takes nearly the entire plot developed by Giovan Battista Giraldi Cinzio, a disciple of Boccaccio, set in the powerful Venice of his time, and converts it into one of the most important theatrical pieces of all times, given its varied and enduring themes of racism, love, jealousy, betrayal, revenge and repentance. The story revolves around its two central characters: Othello a Moorish general in the Venetian army and his unfaithful ensign, Iago.

Presentation
On the 150th Anniversary of the birth of Luigi Pirandello, this project is the tribute of two expatriates in the Far East to the Sicilian author. The man with the flower in his mouth is the dialogue between a man, who knows is going to die soon, and another one who lives without questioning death. In our version, the second character is a pianist with a minor trouble in the execution of a sonata. The dialogue between the two artists is a remarkable example of the deep and somehow mysterious connection between word and music. A man tries to savour any remaining moment of his life while the other follows him, often inadvertently. It’s the endless circle of life and death.
